Huge Demand for Weather Radar Industry
Weather radar, also called weather surveillance radar (WSR) and Doppler weather radar, is a type of radar used to locate precipitation, calculate its movement, and estimate its type (rain, snow, hail, etc.). Modern weather radars are mostly pulse Doppler radars, which can record not only the intensity of precipitation but also the movement of raindrops. Both types of data can be analyzed to determine the structure of storms and their potential to cause severe weather.

Anhui Sun Create Electronics Co., Ltd., AERODATA AG, Beijing-min as Da Leida Ltd., EWR, FURUNO ELECTRIC CO.,LTD., GLARUN TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., Garmin Ltd., Honeywell International Inc, LEONARDO Germany GmbH, Vaisala
During World War II, radar operators discovered that the weather was causing echoes on their screen, obscuring potential enemy targets. Techniques were developed to filter them, but scientists began to study the phenomenon. Soon after the war, surplus radars were used to detect precipitation. Since then, weather radar has evolved on its own and is now used by national weather services, research departments at universities, and in the weather departments of television stations.
Raw images are routinely used, and specialized software can use radar data to make short-term predictions about future locations and intensities of rain, snow, hail, and other weather phenomena. Radar output is even integrated into numerical weather forecast models to improve analysis and forecasting.
