Know about Fixed Pyrometers Industry

A pyrometer is a type of remote sensing thermometer used to measure the temperature of distant objects. In the past there were different shapes of pyrometers. In modern usage, it is a device that remotely determines the temperature of a surface from the amount of thermal radiation it emits, a process known as pyrometry and sometimes radiometry.

The word pyrometer comes from the Greek word for fire, "πῦρ" (Pyr) and meter, which means "to measure". The word pyrometer was originally coined to denote a device that is able to measure the temperature of an object using its light bulb, visible light emitted by a body that is at least red-hot. Modern pyrometers or infrared thermometers also measure the temperature of cooler objects down to room temperature by recording their infrared radiation flux.

It is based on the principle that the light intensity received by the observer depends on the distance of the observer from the source and the temperature of the distant source. A modern pyrometer has an optical system and a detector. The optical system focuses the thermal radiation on the detector.
