Berger wrote the Immune Power Diet by Dr. Berger. The book states that various health problems, including AIDS and obesity, are the result of an "immune hypersensitivity reaction" to common foods, and that "detox," dietary supplements, and weight loss can boost the immune system.

Berger advises his readers to remove what he calls "Sinister Seven" from their diet, as they cause immune damage. These include dairy products, wheat, yeast, eggs, corn, soy, and sugar. After the immune system was "detoxified" and the elimination was completed, these foods could gradually be consumed again, but no more than once every four days.
