Early prototypes of drones for food delivery include Star Simpson's tacocopter demonstration, a taco delivery concept that used a smartphone app to order drone-delivered tacos in the San Francisco area. The discovery that it didn't exist as a delivery system or app led to it being labeled a hoax. A similar concept called the "burrito bomber" was tested in 2012.
