In agriculture, a soil test usually refers to the analysis of a soil sample to determine its nutritional content, composition and other properties such as acidity or pH. A soil test can determine the fertility or expected growth potential of the soil, which indicates nutrient deficiencies, possible toxicities due to excessive fertility, and inhibitions from the presence of non-essential trace elements.
