Future Scope of Juice Concentrates Industry

A concentrate is a form of substance from which most of its base component (in the case of a liquid: the solvent) has been removed. Typically this is the removal of water from a solution or suspension, such as the removal of water from fruit juices. An advantage of making a concentrate is a reduction in weight and volume for shipping since the concentrate can be reconstituted at the time of use by adding the solvent.

The process for concentrating orange juice was patented in 1948. It was originally designed to provide a reliable source of vitamin C to troops during World War II. Today, the majority of retail orange juice is made from reconstituted orange juice concentrate.

Most lemonades and soft drinks are made as highly concentrated syrups and later diluted with carbonated water just before consumption or bottling. Such concentrated syrups are sometimes sold to the end user because of their relatively low price and significant weight savings. Condensed milk is also produced to save weight on transport and to prevent spoilage. Most juice and soda concentrates have a long shelf life due to the high sugar content and / or the added preservatives.
