Dairy Separator Industry
Know about Dairy Separator Industry
A separator is a centrifugal device that separates cream milk and skim milk. Separation was commonly done on farms in the past. Most farmers milked some cows, usually by hand, and separated the milk. Part of the skimmed milk was consumed while the rest was used to feed the calves and pigs. Enough cream was kept to make butter and the excess was sold.Get Sample PDF

Before the advent of centrifugal separators, separation was done by letting the milk rest in a container until the cream floated to the top and could be skimmed by hand. A variant of the container-separator had a spout at the bottom that opened to allow the milk to drain. A window on the side, near the spout at the bottom, allowed the operator to observe when the milk was draining.
The centrifugal separator was manufactured for the first time by Gustaf de Laval, which allows to separate the cream from the milk more quickly and easily, without having to let the milk rest for a while and run the risk of it becoming sour. Possibly because Gustaf de Laval made the first cream separators, many people attribute the invention to De Laval. However, many patents appear before yours, all of them labeled 'enhancements'. One of the first specifically for cream separation was patented by W. C. L. Lefeldt and C. G. O. Lentsch.
