Biometric identifiers are the characteristic, measurable features that are used to identify and describe people. Biometric identifiers are often classified as physiological or behavioral characteristics. Physiological properties are related to the shape of the body. Since biometric identifiers only apply to individuals, they are more reliable in verifying identity than token and knowledge-based methods. However, the collection of biometric identifiers raises privacy concerns about the ultimate use of this information.
