Flourishing demand for Flaxseed Based Egg Industry

Flax, also known as flax or flaxseed, is a flowering plant, Linum usitatissimum, in the Linaceae family. It is grown as a food and fiber crop in cooler regions of the world. Textiles made from flax are known as linen in Western countries and are traditionally used for bed linen, underwear and table linen. Its oil is known as linseed oil. In addition to referring to the plant itself, the word "flax" can refer to the unspun fibers of the flax plant. The plant species is only known as a cultivated plant and appears to have only been domesticated once by the wild species Linum bienne, known as pale flax. The plants known as "flax" in New Zealand belong to the genus Phormium.

Some other species in the genus Linum look similar to L. usitatissimum, cultivated flax, including some with similar blue flowers and others with white, yellow, or red flowers. Some of these are perennial, as opposed to L. usitatissimum, which is an annual. Cultivated flax plants reach heights of 1.2 m and have slender stems. The leaves are glassy green, slenderly lanceolate, 20–40 mm long and 3 mm wide.

The flowers are light blue, 15-25 mm in diameter, with five petals. The fruit is a round, dry capsule 5 to 9 mm in diameter that contains several shiny brown seeds that are shaped like an apple pip and are 4 to 7 mm long.
